Official Mission Statement
ATISDA is a professional association founded to advance the translation and interpretation professions in the San Diego area and foster the professional development of individual translators and interpreters.
ATISDA is a non-profit organization dedicated to raising the standards and encouraging, supporting, and furthering the interests of the profession by providing assistance to its members and to corporations and individuals seeking translation and interpretation services.
In order to ensure the quality of professional translation and interpretation services and thus meet the needs of the ever-changing global demand for highly-qualified professionals, it is the mission of ATISDA to contribute to the development of translation and interpretation professions and further public appreciation of translation and interpretation as a science and an art.
The purpose of ATISDA is to promote and publicize professional standards and practices, networking among translators and interpreters and joint cooperation with other associations. In addition, it aims to conduct research in the field, offer consulting services and facilitate contacts between the profession and potential clients.
Education and outreach activities include organizing meetings, providing an open forum for the exchange of information, training, and assistance, publishing a newsletter, establishing important contacts between business, government and industry, as well as public relations to inform and educate the general public, fostering ties with allied organizations, and by such other means as the Association may deem appropriate.
By expanding membership and by staying abreast of relevant developments, ATISDA aims to contribute to the overall good of the community of translators and interpreters and promote the highest professional standards.
ATISDA's mission is to promote the professional, social, and financial position of its members through education, networking, industry advocacy and professional development of translators and interpreters.
In addition, ATISDA aims to promote the recognition of translation and interpretation as professions; protect the rights and interests of professional translators and interpreters; improve the standards and professional ethics, practices, and competence among translators and interpreters; as well as facilitate and procure continuing education and skill-building programs to interpreters and translators in the San Diego Area; provide language resources to individuals, businesses, organizations, and government agencies in the local and international community; promote the professions of translation and interpretation, and support their competency, skills, proficiency and expertise.
ATISDA serves as a clearinghouse for information on literature, practices, and new developments concerning the translation and interpretation industry. The association gives members a common forum to discuss issues, create innovative solutions, promote the industry, and present a joint—and more powerful—voice within the industry and to the outside community. ATISDA acts as a regional talent bank for individuals, business, and industry seeking assistance with translation and interpretation.
On the belief that real industry progress will come from working together, we intend to foster innovative ways to promote ourselves and our industry, and offer our clients unique, collaborative value.
