Southwest Border Talk

The slang used along the Mexico-U.S. border can present a challenge to the interpreter as well as to the translator. Focusing on this issue, ATISDA has invited Dr. Rogelio Camacho to lead a workshop where the language professional may learn more about the Mexican slang commonly used in the Southwest border region.

This workshop will be highly interactive where the participants will identify, describe, analyze, and discuss Mexican slang unique to the melting pot of the border region. The resulting product will be a Spanish-English glossary of at least 250 informal words and expressions not considered standard Spanish.

Dr. Rogelio Camacho has presented over 250 translation seminars and workshops throughout Argentina, Costa Rica, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Spain and the U.S. His presentations are recognized for their high quality, original content and dynamic style. Rogelio provides Spanish translation, interpretation and cross-cultural training services to American and Mexican businesses, law enforcement/governmental agencies, and news media organizations.
