Bridging languages and cultures one translation at a time

ATISDA - A Brief History

The Association of Translators and Interpreters in the San Diego Area was founded in February 2008, when a group of translation and interpretation professionals, and educators decided to organize themselves in support the community of language professionals in the San Diego and southern California area.  Its membership is drawn from all around southern California, adjoining states, and Mexico.  ATISDA continually seeks to diversify and expand the language representation of its membership.

From its inception the goal was to become a chapter of the Association of Translators of America (ATA). To this purpose its bylaws, policies and procedures are aligned with those of ATA.  ATISDA works closely with ATA to assure that its activities provide local membership with professional development on par with ATA expectations and with networking on national, regional and local levels.  Reaching the status of ATA chapter is central to many of the activities of the membership and shows very good progress as of this writing.

ATISDA holds two general association meetings each year. The annual meeting is held on the last Saturday of January and a general assembly on the last Saturday of June.
